About LifeLegacy Foundation

LifeLegacy Foundation is the first federally-approved
501(c)(3) nonprofit research organ and tissue bank accredited by The American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). The primary objective of LifeLegacy is the ethical recovery and placement of nontransplantable human organs and tissues for the purpose of advancing medical research and education.

LifeLegacy Foundation was founded in 1997 to expand the availability of donated nontransplantable organs and tissues to meet the overwhelming need of researchers working on the development of new medications, cures to diseases, and improved medical techniques. These nontransplantable organs and tissues are provided to a variety of recognized academic agencies and university medical centers, governmental research agencies, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as surgical training programs and private research organizations that are associated with national medical accreditation institutions and other healthcare training programs.

LifeLegacy provides clients a comprehensive selection of donated human tissues and organs, both normal and diseased, obtained through LifeLegacy's own nationwide Donor Program.

LifeLegacy Foundation also provides a Tissue Escort Service which is available at most venues, allowing the custody of the tissue to remain with LifeLegacy.  This service includes receipt, setup, breakdown, and removal of any and all specimen related materials.  Our highly trained staff is equipped to aid in the completion of technical duties such as prepping the work area, specimens, and related instruments, and are prepared to furnish necessary documentation supporting validity and antigen-free state of the specimens.  Any additional needs may be fulfilled upon request as well.  We ask for a minimum of two weeks advanced notice to provide this service.

LifeLegacy is committed to ensuring all donated organs and tissues are used properly and professionally, and that the donor and donor family's wishes are met. LifeLegacy procures, packages and distributes donated human organs and tissues only to those clients who meet the stringent requirements of LifeLegacy's Application and Approval Committee.
