Serving Medical Researchers and Educators
Through an extensive national network of tissue recovery programs, LifeLegacy Foundation is able to provide a wide variety of donated organ and tissues, both normal and diseased. Serological testing for infectious diseases is performed by CLIA-certified laboratories on all donor tissues prior to placement. The standard screenings include HIV 1 and 2, hepatitis B and C, and, on request, CMV, HTLV 1 and 2, and RPR. Donor information accompanies each shipped tissue and serology results are available for a fee. Clients may request any tissue to be perfused or rinsed. Clients may also request special shipping solutions to maintain viability in transit.
LifeLegacy Foundation also provides a Tissue Escort Service which is available at most venues, allowing the custody of the tissue to remain with LifeLegacy Foundation. This service includes receipt, setup, security, breakdown, and disposition of any and all specimen related materials. Our highly trained staff is equipped to aid in the completion of technical duties such as prepping the work area, specimens, and related instruments, and are prepared to furnish necessary documentation supporting validity and antigen-free state of the specimens. Any additional needs may be fulfilled upon request as well. We ask for a minimum of three weeks advanced notice to provide this service.
LifeLegacy Foundation distributes donated human organs and tissues only to approved research institutions and companies. Organs and tissues are prepared according to internal standard protocols or by protocols submitted by the requested client and are released by LifeLegacy Foundation’s Medical Director following a comprehensive review of each donor. All clients must submit a completed LifeLegacy Application Form and be approved through the LifeLegacy Application Approval Committee before being able to acquire nontransplantable organs and tissue. To receive a copy of the LifeLegacy Application, please complete our Application Request Form or call 888-774-4438 or 520-575-5200.
